Guidelines for Accepted Articles

Style Guide

Manuscripts must be written in English. (Authors for whom English is a second language must ensure their manuscripts are professionally edited.) Manuscripts must be prepared on A4 paper using the Times New Roman font size 11 and should be no longer than 10,000 words.

Title page should include:

  • Title should be short, informative, and contain the major keywords.
  • Byline should contain the full name, affiliation and email address of the authors, and indicate the author to whom correspondence about the manuscript should be sent. (Additional information should be provided as a footnote at the bottom of the title page.)
  • ORCID should be provided next to the name of each author.
  • Abstract should offer a succinct idea of the principal conclusions, motivations, the methods employed, and a clear line of reasoning. The opening sentence should indicate the major conclusion of the article. Abstract is strictly limited to less than 200 words and must be able to stand alone.
  • Keywords: Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 5 keywords. Be sparing with abbreviations. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.
  • Classification codes: Please provide up to 3 standard JEL codes.

Terms

A. The first word of proper nouns, such as names of people and geographical locations, must begin with a capital letter. Abbreviations of names of groups and organizations must be written in capital letters. Terms, units, names of people and terminology must remain consistent throughout the whole manuscript.

B. Romanization of other foreign languages is necessary.

Tables, Figures, and Equations

A. Tables and figures should be numbered with Arabic numerals, be placed in the middle of the page, and have a title followed by a descriptive legend and their sources typed below.

B. Tables and figures should be self-contained, in the sense that the reader should be able to understand them.

C. All equations should be numbered with Arabic numerals, and the numbers should be placed in parentheses in the right hand margin.

References

A. We use the author-date system based on Chicago Manual of Style. In the text, give the author’s name followed by the year in parentheses: e.g., Smith (2000). If there are two authors, use “and”: e.g., Smith and Jones (2001). When reference is made to a work by three or more authors, the first name followed by “et al.” is used: e.g., Lee et al. (2020).

B. All citations mentioned in the text, tables, or figures must be listed alphabetically by the last name of the first author in the reference list.

C. While the last author’s name should be given as it is (i.e., first name should be provided first, last name last), the rest of the authors’ names should be inverted (i.e., last names should be provided first).

D. For example,

  • - Books

Surname, X., Surname, Y. and Z. Surname. Year. Title with Initial Caps. Place: Publisher.

  • - Periodicals

Surname, X. and Y. Surname. Year. “Title of Article.” Name of Journal, vol. xx, no. xx, pp. xx-xx.

  • - Working Papers

Surname, X. Year. “Title.” WP Series Title, no. xx. Institution’s name published the WP.

  • - Electronic Sources in Website

Surname, X. Year. “Title of Article.” Name of Website. http://xxx.xxxx.xxx/xxx (accessed date)

  • - Conference Proceedings

Surname, X. Year. “Title of Paper.” Paper presented at Name of Conference, Place, Date.

Appendices follow the References, at the end of the paper.

Final Preparation for Publication

After the manuscript has been accepted for publication, all subsequent correspondence will be made by emails with the EAER managing editor.

  • Author(s) should submit the final version of the paper with higher-resolution image files (on request if originally submitted images files were of poor condition).
  • The names and affiliations of the authors in the final version should be double-checked.
  • The managing editor will copyedit the manuscript such that it meets the standard publication format. If the response from the author(s) is delayed, the manuscript’s publication may be put off to the next issue.
  • The author(s) will receive the proofs of the manuscript as a PDF file. Upon receipt, the author(s) must notify the managing editor of any errors found and then must confirm the final approval of the version to be published. Any errors found after the final confirmation are the responsibility of the author(s) and will have to be corrected as an erratum.

EAER Best Paper Award

The EAER Editorial Board selects the best papers of the year from those published in EAER.

  • Candidates for the EAER Best Paper Award are the papers published in EAER for a designated period of time. (Invited papers excluded)
  • The Best Paper Selection Committee consists of six members and evaluates candidate papers based on four criteria of excellence: academic contribution, research originality, logical clarity, and policy implications.
  • Annual Nominations for outstanding and noteworthy papers are made and the first place winner is awarded a KRW 5,000,000 prize. A press release is issued, describing how the selected papers has contributed to the knowledge of international economics.
